I tried the experience but unfortunately it didn’t have much of an impact on me. I even tried it three times and still I didn’t get anything from it. I believe it didn’t work on me because I’m not really the type of guy that meditates. I do however think that this could work on someone else because there are people in this world that swears on exercises like these. I guess I’m not a very affectionate enough person for relaxing exercises to work which I believe may be one reason why I didn’t get anything from it.
The concept of mental workout is to strengthen the mind. The proven benefits is that by strengthening the mind it makes it easier to train which makes it better to become happier and more relaxed. I can implement this to foster my psychological health by learning to work on my inner peace to reduce my stress.
Craig, meditation is not for everyone,it work for me because, well I love the sound of ocean waves, so it automatically relaxes me and allow me to exhale. For mental workout I agree that it is to strengthen the mind, since mediatation does work for you,take a few minutes for your self everyday, to find your inner peace, could be bike riding, fishing whatever you like to release your stressful moments.

ReplyDeleteI am not one to enjoy meditation either. However, I did feel like this exercise brought to my attention things going on in my spirit that needed to be addressed. Were you unable to focus on yourself at all? Did you put forth an effort to do so? I am not trying to question your effort but I am just wondering if you were able to get anything out of it.

ReplyDeleteThis is the only meditation that I have found works so far for me. The past few weeks have been very unsuccessful in the meditation department, but I did feel like I got something out of this one.
Keep trying, maybe one of these weeks you will have a eureka moment with the meditation practices. :)

Hey Craig, sorry it still isn't working for you, there are many ways to finding peace with in your mind and relax it with out listening to tapes. You just need to experiment with different options, find what relaxes you in general and then build from that activity. What if you were listening to a sporting event in a relaxing position, and possibly with your eyes closed taking in only that audio part of what you enjoy. If you can bring your mind to the one activity going on and release all the other worries of your day...wouldn't that be basically letting go and relaxing and also strengthening your mind?
